Our Story
In 2023, Oweru stepped into the land market and uncovered a powerful truth. Many people dream of owning land and building their own homes⦠but for most, full cash payments made that dream feel out of reach.
The First Challenge
So we introduced a simple challenge buying a plot through small, monthly contributions. The first challenge happened in Vianzi, near Vikindu in Mkuranga. Thirty families joined, each committing to TZS 100,000 per month. Ten months laterβevery one of them owned land..
The Deeper Problem
But even after owning plots, many had not started building. The dream was still on hold β because construction felt too expensive, too overwhelming, and too far away. The problem wasn't just money β it was structure, discipline, and a system people could relate to.
Mjengo Challenge is Born
Thatβs when Mjengo Challenge was born.A system that breaks down the entire building journey into small, manageable stepsβbuilt on consistency, accountability, and a concept we all understand: βMchezo.β Whether youβre an entrepreneur, an employee, or a bodaboda rider this is your way in.
Because building a home shouldn't be a one-time big decision.
It should be a journey anyone can afford to take.
OUR JOURNEY β FROM IDEA TO IMPACT
The Beginning
We started by selling plots in Vianzi, Mkuranga.Through small monthly contributions, 30 families were able to own land. But success revealed a deeper truth owning land did not automatically lead to building.
The Idea is Born
The idea evolved into a structured platform. Construction was broken down into manageable steps with clear progress, accountability, and guidance at every stage.
Vision Meets Technology
The idea evolved into a technology-driven solution β a structured platform simplifying construction into manageable steps with accountability and progress tracking.
Building the System
Development began. We introduced step-by-step building stages, small consistent contributions, and the familiar βMchezoβ modelβmaking the process practical and achievable.
Testing & Compliance
The system was tested, refined, and prepared for real users. Every step was designed to ensure it works simply, reliably, and effectively.
Official Launch
Mjengo Challenge officially launchedβintroducing a new way for Tanzanians to build: structured, affordable, and achievable.
